My personal experience at the LITTA meeting at Restad Gård in Sweden

Well, I have found something very unique. Restad Gård is for sure a reference for including asylum seekers into society. The corner stone is its school, where all of them get the chance to acquire Swedish suggestopedically in a very effective and humanistic way.

Being the chairperson of LITTA, I was very much interested, how this effective method is implemented when teaching the refugees. I have come to the conclusion that everything is done to a deep understanding what suggestopedia is all about. The teachers, the building, the surrounding, the whole learning environment meets all the needs and goals of Suggestopedia.
Here Chritina Johnstone has done a wonderful work with her colleagues. Furthermore, she has established an archive showing the history of suggestopedia. So, that is another reason to make Restad Gård an international centre for Suggestopedia.
LITTA members from nearly all over the world (Japan, Kuwait, Austria, Greece, Bulgaria, USA, Norway, and Sweden) have come together to talk about the role of LITTA and the plans and visions for the future, how to adapt Suggestopedia to new realities.
We also have experienced that it not only takes very enthusiastic teachers teaching that way but also an organisation supporting their ideas.
We do need more teachers being trained that way, we need more recognition from education authorities, and we want that method to be included in teacher training worldwide one day.

And I do hope that Restad Gard plays a very important role being able to accomplish our vision. I would like as many people as possible to come to Restad Gard to get that experience, too.
